How Do I Register to Vote? You must be registered to vote and we encourage you to do this prior to Election Day. There are several ways to register:

Before 3 weeks prior to the election:

1. Eligible voters who hold a valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License or State ID Card that has their current name and address on file with the WI DMV are able to register to vote online up to 20 days prior to an election - without  needing to print, mail or sign their registration form or provide additional Proof of Residence. This Voter Registration is available through MyVoteWI.

2. Complete a paper Registration form (one may be picked up at the Clerk’s Office at Village Hall or printed from the Wisconsin Election Commission website. Once completed, the form, along with your Proof of Residency (see the back of the form for acceptable documents), may be returned to the Clerk’s Office (2015 Energy Dr.), dropped off in-person or placed in the drop box.

Less than 3 weeks prior to the election: Registration is only allowed in-person at the Clerk’s Office. The Voter Registration forms and your proof of Residency should be brought to the Clerk’s Office (2015 Energy Dr.) and these will be accepted during regular office hours of Monday - Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with extended hours until 5 pm on the Friday prior to the election.

Election Day registration is allowed in Wisconsin however you should plan for additional time and have the required Proof of Residency, showing that you have lived in the municipality for 28 consecutive days prior to the Election.

We encourage residents to prepare ahead of time to participate in the election by making sure their registration is current and accurate.  Registration is required if you are a new resident in the Village of East Troy, if you have changed your name or if you have changed your address within the Village – even if you have only changed apartments. By preparing ahead of the Election you will save time.  If it has been a while since you have voted, or you are unsure of your registration status, please visit MyVoteWI and select the My Voter Info tab to determine your registration status.

Any voter who needs a photo ID to vote can now get one with one visit to the DMV.  Please click here for details.
