The Village Board awarded the construction contract for the Village Square on Monday night to Globe Construction from Pewaukee. Globe intends to begin construction next week and plans to have two construction crews working simultaneously in order to speed up the construction schedule. The second crew will begin work the week of March 12. Their tentative schedule has work being completed in May which is approximately one month ahead of the original schedule.
Work Location and Traffic Control
On Monday March 12, Globe Construction will be completing a connection to existing water main at the intersection of Austin Street and Division Street. During this time, water customers on Division Street between Austin and South Street and those in the Lakeside Painting Building will have water service interruptions. The Contractor will be providing notification to affected water customers on Friday March 9th. All work at the intersection of Austin and Division should be completed on Monday. We do not anticipate any issues with water on the Square during this time, but if you experience any discolored water, please contact us so that the water utility can flush your service.
March 13 through 16, Globe plans to continue working northward on Church Street (they are currently just north of the intersection of Austin and Church Streets) with installation of water main and sanitary sewer.
Most of the detour signs are in place, but business patrons can still access the Square by going around the barricades. Parking will be available on the South, North, and West sides of the Square as well as in the municipal lot at the SE corner of the Square all of next week (parking lot may be blocked for a few hours as we dig across the driveway). Parking on the east side of the Square will be blocked when crews are working in the area. We are making every effort to maintain traffic as much as possible. Please ask patrons to be patient with the construction and drive cautiously through/around the work area.

Water, Sewer, and Sidewalk Impacts During Construction
The contracts for construction require that the contractor reconnect water services outside of normal business hours. They will contact you prior to this shut down to work with you to determine a time. After your water service is reconnected, the Village will need to gain access to your building to flush the water service and perform water testing.
You should experience no interruptions of your sewer service throughout construction.
The Contractor is responsible for maintaining pedestrian access to businesses during construction. Concrete sidewalk replacement (the gray concrete, not the decorative concrete) will be poured outside of normal working hours and will be high early concrete so that by the time your business opens the next day, it should be ok to walk on. Another option that the contractor was given was to provide ramps over the top of the concrete to maintain access. The contractor will contact you prior to pouring the concrete to coordinate with you.
